The same goes for the discussion of transport theory, which was slightly better in the 2nd edition. The non-equilibrium phase transitions are also not given the level of importance that they deserve. Another focus concerns on and quantum phase transitions, in both monatomic and mixed particle systems.

It is a good book for some topics but beware of reichll notation and the rather high number of incomplete derivations. Her research ranges over a number of topics in statistical physics and nonlinear dynamics. Makes almost no attempt to help develop intuitive feel for the concepts at hand.

From inside the book. Professor Reichl has published more than research papers, has written three books, and has edited several volumes. There are many examples to follow, but even the examples seem pointless when the next reicho in the derivation has been skipped and it takes the reader several minutes to find the connection.
